Saving Face (Movie)

Here is a positive representation of Asian lesbians. This movie takes on different issues in the Chinese-American community including pregnancy outside of marriage, lesbianism, and societal and family expectations. This movie explored the mother-daughter relationship in Chinese families. The characters dealt with the problems that any Asian child would face, and perhaps even non-Asian children. For the most part, we want to make our parents proud. We don't want to disappoint them. And what most closeted gay person battle with, the fear of rejection, judgment, and prejudice by those around them, especially those closest to them, the ones they love and value, when and if they do decide to come out.
